Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is expected to be sidelined for some time following his ankle injury.

The 25-year-old was called up to the Norway squad during the international break, and he started both games for Stale Solbakken’s side.

In the second fixture against Austria, Odegaard suffered a nasty ankle injury. That made him unavailable for the North London Derby against Tottenham.

Now, Odegaard’s injury timeline has emerged.

Martin Odegaard could miss at least nine games for Arsenal after injury

Mikel Arteta confirmed that Odegaard has suffered a ‘significant’ injury to a ligament in his ankle, and he is set to be out for a ‘while’.

The Arsenal manager refused to give a timeline – he just claimed that he hopes it will not be ‘months’.

That is a massive blow for the Gunners. Odegaard is one of their most important players, not just on the pitch but off it as well.

Arsenal fans have been waiting to find out when their captain will return, and Team News and Ticks has had his say on his Patreon.

The insider has revealed Odegaard’s return is likely to be in November, which means he will miss at least nine games in all competitions:

Arsenal play three consecutive away games in the first 10 days of November – against Newcastle United, Inter Milan and Chelsea.

It remains to be seen if Odegaard could be back in time for those fixtures.

Three players Arsenal could use to replace Martin Odegaard

Arsenal have found themselves in a really tricky position following Odegaard’s injury.

The Gunners decided to sell Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham and loaned out Fabio Vieira to Porto. Those two players were Arteta’s backup number 10s, but neither are available now.

However, Arsenal still have three players who could replace Odegaard in that attacking midfield role.

Kai Havertz has played there before and he is more than capable of doing a good job. Leandro Trossard started there against Tottenham and he was really good.

Young Ethan Nwaneri is another player who could replace Odegaard. We expect the teenager to get plenty of minutes in the coming weeks.
