Arsenal are never afraid to make the changes needed on and off the field and it’s now become clear why technical director James Ellis has left the club.

Ellis has departed The Emirates recently as the club continue to shape things off the field in a bid to be as close to perfection as possible.

Nevertheless, Ellis’ sudden departure was seen by many as a shock and very much out of the blue.

However, according to information from The Sun, there is a clear reason why Ellis has gone.

Why James Ellis has left Arsenal

According to the report from The Sun, there was a clear misalignment and disagreement between Ellis and other key figures at the club over the future of the Arsenal academy.

With Per Mertesacker moving on as well, it’s going to be a period of change at youth level.

However, while Ellis was said to be working closely with Andrea Berta when it came to youth contracts and was heavily involved in the new deal for Max Dowman, he didn’t agree with everyone.

Indeed, it’s suggested that the views of Ellis and those above him were so far apart that the only decision possible was for Ellis to depart.

Quite what the new direction for the Arsenal academy will be, remains to be seen.

Arsenal can dominate for years if they get this right

While big money has been spent in recent years on marquee signings and players who can win a Premier League title, the youth side of things remains key.

With Arsenal having young players like Dowman, Myles Lewis-Skelly Ethan Nwaneri and more coming through into the first-team, there’s a chance here for the Gunners to really lay down a marker.

Agree or disagree, Arsenal can kiss goodbye to the title if they don’t improve in attack

That, of course, requires them getting the strategy right and whatever the idea was behind Ellis’ plans for the club has clearly been vetoed.

Now, the pressure is on for the Arsenal higher-ups to not only get this right, but prove that letting Ellis go was actually the smart move.
