Gabriel Magalhaes is among a few Arsenal players who have pulled out of international duty this month.

The Brazilian was called up by Carlo Ancelotti, along with his Gunners teammate, Gabriel Martinelli, for the games against France and Croatia.

However, after the Carabao Cup final, Gabriel withdrew from his national squad due to injury. More details about the same have now emerged.

Gabriel Magalhaes’ withdrawal was a ‘mutual decision’ by Arsenal and Brazil

Arsenal fans have been divided since hearing that Gabriel Magalhaes has pulled out of the Brazil squad for their games in the ongoing international break.

Some are very concerned about his injury, while others are delighted that he will get a two-week break before the business end of the season begins.

Brazil would’ve definitely wanted to have Gabriel for their games, but they were informed by Arsenal about a knee injury to the central defender.

That’s according to AS, who suggest that it is not a serious issue at the moment, but if it is aggravated, his participation at the World Cup could come into doubt.

The report says that Gabriel had been suffering from discomfort in his knee, which became worse in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

For that reason, both Arsenal and Brazil decided to give him a break, so that he will be available to play after the international break and also at the World Cup this summer.

Arsenal have five other injury concerns

Gabriel is not the only Arsenal player to have pulled out of international duty this month; a few others did the same.

William Saliba also withdrew from the France squad due to an ankle problem, while Leandro Trossard did not report to Belgium duty because of a hip issue.

Jurrien Timber and Eberechi Eze could not join their international teams either due to injuries. The Englishman is facing at least a month on the sidelines due to a calf issue.

Answer honestly, can Arsenal win the Premier League without Eberechi Eze?

Finally, Martin Odegaard will also not play for Norway in the coming days. He is still recovering from his knee injury, but the hope is that he will be fit to play right after the break.

As things stand, Eze’s injury is the only serious one. We expect all the others to be available for the game against Sporting CP in the Champions League in April.
