The transfer issue Folarin Balogun has this summer thanks to his time at Arsenal

Folarin Balogun has been one of the surprise packages at this summer’s World Cup with the USA.

The former Arsenal striker has clearly improved massively since leaving The Emirates and after a good season with Monaco, went into this World Cup full of confidence.

After being cast aside and then sold for big money by the Gunners, Balogun appears to have found his way.

But with his impressive performances across the Atlantic catching the eye of other clubs this summer, he might well face another decision on his future soon.

However, thanks to Arsenal, Balogun himself has one major doubt in his mind.

Folarin Balogun’s Arsenal experience will impact any future transfer

With two goals at this tournament already and his electric performances in general, it is little wonder other clubs are keen on Balogun.

But there would appear to be a problem, should a team decide to make their move.

“Balogun could return to England by the way. Quite a high price, I’m told,” Ben Jacobs told The United Stand podcast.

Two years left on his contract, but more at the moment. Ipswich, Coventry, where his international teammate Haji Wright is, Leeds and Fulham have looked in the past too. Balogun, I sense because of his Arsenal kind of experience will give preference to clubs where he thinks he’s going to be playing every single week.”

With Arsenal having inserted a sell on clause in the Balogun to Monaco deal, any move this summer could generate more income for the Gunners.

Of course, moving from Monaco to any of the teams mentioned above could be considered a step down.

But ultimately, the Premier League is where the best want to be and with money a factor as well, Balogun might well earn his big move back to England this summer.

The player himself can obviously score goals. But with his time at Arsenal plagued by a lack of chances, there seems a clear intent from the USA man to go to a club where he is very much the main man.
