Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Bukayo Saka share a very special relationship.

The iconic Frenchman is loved by every Gooner who grew up in his era. He gave us all a ton of memories and will remain a hero to many forever.

Saka was a bit too young to watch Henry in his prime at Arsenal, but we’re sure the Englishman knows just how good he was back in the day.

The duo are regularly in touch with each other these days, and we’re sure Henry is giving some valuable advice to Saka behind the scenes.

What Thierry Henry has challenged Bukayo Saka to do at Arsenal

There’s not a lot that Saka can’t do on the pitch for Arsenal.

The England star is hugely versatile. He can play anywhere in attack, has featured in midfield and as he showed early in his career, he’s more than good enough as a wing-back too.

To add to that, Saka is prolific in front of goal, constantly creates chances for his teammates and has picked up several assists too.

Saka is as complete as they come, but Henry thinks there is one more thing that Saka can add to his name – if he does, he will become unstoppable.

Speaking to Alex Scott on BBC Sport, Henry said: “I remember when he started, at the beginning, he was playing wing-back, on the left, on the right, wherever there was a position he was playing and doing well.

“The evolution of his game is just outstanding because he used to be (has gone from being) lively to difficult to defend against to assists to goals and now goals and assists. (He’s also) taking penalties.

“I challenged him the other day: ‘You need to take free-kicks now’. He’s got to work a bit on his free-kicks.”

Scoring free-kicks will take Saka to a whole new level

Arsenal don’t really have a goalscoring free-kick specialist in their squad.

Martin Odegaard takes a few but he has only scored one, while the most recent strike from a free-kick was from Saka himself – his attempted cross into the box found the back of the net against PSG.

Saka definitely has the quality over the dead ball – we’ve seen it with his corners and indirect set-pieces. The next step is direct free-kicks.

There aren’t many players who can produce the numbers that Saka does and also be a goal threat from a dead ball – even Mohamed Salah stays away from free-kicks at Liverpool.

The likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Neymar all stepped up to score from a free-kick and they have been among the best in the game over the years.

If Saka can start scoring free-kicks, we think he will go to that level and become unstoppable.
