Thierry Henry is the greatest player to ever play for Arsenal.

The legendary Frenchman was unbelievable on his day and played a big part in helping Arsene Wenger win many trophies in the early 2000s.

Henry also played with a few absolute legends for club and country. From Patrick Vieira to Zinedine Zidane, he rubbed shoulders with some true greats.

Now, the 47-year-old gets to watch his beloved Arsenal as a fan, and like every other supporter, he has a favourite player too.

Thierry Henry explains why Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is his ‘favourite player’

Bukayo Saka is arguably Arsenal’s best player right now.

The £195,000-a-week England star came through the ranks at Hale End and made his senior debut as a teenager. He played in a number of different positions before making the right-wing spot his own – ahead of then-club-record signing Nicolas Pepe.

Saka has carried Arsenal on his back over the last few years, and he is one of the biggest reasons why the Gunners are challenging for the Premier League title.

The 23-year-old is already a star, but the sky is the limit for him – he has the quality, potential and time to become an Arsenal legend and one of the greatest players in the world.

Henry worked with Saka in the Arsenal Academy many years ago. He revealed that he didn’t think much of the Englishman then, but he is his favourite player right now.

The Frenchman told Alex Scott on BBC Sport: “At the time I was in the academy, people were talking a lot about Chris Willock, the brother of Joe, Reiss Nelson, Donyell Malen.

“Bukayo was just ‘okay, he’s good’, but he wasn’t the talk of the academy. That’s why I have mad respect for Bukayo, a soft spot for him. He’s my favourite player.

“He has been there for a long time, he is so nice. I never thought he was going to reach the level that we are seeing – he is a starter for England and he is obviously a starter for Arsenal.”

One Bukayo Saka stat puts him above everyone else

Saka constantly gets compared to others in the league, but he still manages to get on top.

We’re sick and tired of people bringing up names like Phil Foden and Cole Palmer in the same conversation as Saka. Don’t get us wrong, they are both unbelievable players, but they are not on the same level as the Arsenal man.

One stat that proves the above is big chances created in the Premier League this season. Saka leads the way – by some distance.

To add to the above, Saka has scored five goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League this season. He is having an unbelievable campaign despite all the injury problems around him.

Saka is on track to break the Premier League assists record that is currently held by Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. He needs 11 assists in 24 games to achieve that feat – we think he’s going to do it.

Hopefully, people will start giving him the credit he deserves then.
