Thierry Henry is arguably the greatest player to ever play for Arsenal.

The Frenchman scored 228 goals for the North London club, winning two Premier League titles and three FA Cups in the process.

Narrowly missing out on a Champions League winners’ medal by losing to Barcelona in Paris in the final in 2006, Henry is still one of the most illustrious and successful players to play in red and white.

Now a pundit and ambassador for the club, the 48-year-old remains vocal about his love and admiration for Arsenal.

Thierry Henry sends heartwarming message to Ian Wright

Before Henry, Ian Wright was Arsenal’s greatest ever goalscorer.

Arsenal are about to sign Eberechi Eze, who will follow Wright’s career path of signing for the Gunners at the age of 27 from Crystal Palace.

The club’s supporters will hope Eze can follow in Wright’s footsteps and establish himself as a legend in N5.

The striker netted 185 goals in 288 appearances for the Gunners between 1991 and 1998, before Henry took the mantle in 1999 and went on to break that goalscoring record.

Despite usurping him in this chart, Henry still acknowledges Wright as a hugely influential figure in his journey to becoming the greatest ever Arsenal player.

Posting on Instagram this week, the World Cup winner wrote: “I watched your DVD of breaking THE ARSENAL goal scoring record on repeat, and you were one of my inspirations to achieve greater things at the club, without you, it wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you, Wrighty, ONE LOVE.”

A heartwarming message from one legend to another, Arsenal fans will be tearing up reading the respect Henry has for his predecessor.

Arsenal have a number of players who could join Thierry Henry and Ian Wright in the pantheon of legends

Henry and Wright are potentially the two most celebrated legends in Arsenal history, perhaps alongside the likes of Tony Adams and Dennis Bergkamp.

It’s been a long time since an Arsenal player has cemented themselves as a definitive club legend, with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey arguably the closest to earning this title over the last ten years.

However, Mikel Arteta’s current squad has several potential legends in the making.

Bukayo Saka is on course to achieve legendary status, although he’ll need to win a significant piece of silverware to ensure he is regarded in this manner.

The winger is yet to turn 24, but has already made 264 appearances for the Arsenal first team, scoring 70 goals.

Meanwhile, the likes of William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice also have the potential to follow Saka into Arsenal’s hall of fame, if they bring trophies back to N5 in the coming years.
