Thierry Henry tells Mikel Arteta what Arsenal must do to win the Champions League this season

Arsenal produced a stunning performance in Eindhoven to banish their recent woes in front of goal with a 7-1 victory.

Thierry Henry delivers Arsenal Champions League verdict

Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo’s post match coverage of the Champions League, Arsenal legend Henry believes that his old side can take confidence from the 7-1 thrashing and be competitive in the next round.

Henry stated: “Yes. I do believe that. I’m just saying now, show us you can do that [the performance vs PSV] against a good team with people that are coming back… this game can help maybe to be confident in this competition but the game that you have after is Real Madrid or Atletico.”

The Gunners record goal scorer then explained that if Arsenal want to win the competition they are going to have to beat the likes of Real Madrid at some stage.

Henry explained: “Sometimes I think the path to go to the final can at times help or on that time, not. But if you want to win the competition, you have to go through these teams.”

Arsenal fans want to play Real Madrid in the quarter final should both sides reach that stage. The Gunners have all but secured their spot barring an unprecedented collapse at the Emirates Stadium.

However, it is still in the balance for Carlo Ancelotti’s team as they secured a narrow 2-1 victory over local rivals Atletico Madrid and now head to the Metropolitano stadium.

The Gunners have only ever faced the giants of European football Real Madrid once in their history and Henry was a huge part of that as he scored the only goal in the last-16 tie as Arsenal progressed.

It was one of Arsenal’s greatest Champions League wins and should inspire the current squad that anything is possible should they progress and meet the 15 times European champions.
