Tim Cahill believes Arsenal would cruise to the Premier League title if Mikel Arteta had one of their direct rivals’ stars at his disposal.
The Gunners have finished second in each of the last three seasons, and will finally be looking to end this runners-up streak this term by winning the elusive piece of silverware.
Viktor Gyokeres has been added from Sporting CP to give them a better chance of doing so, while the likes of Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke have also been acquired to bolster Arteta’s ranks.
While there is a general feeling that the North Londoners’ squad is in a good place, there’s also an acceptance that one additional piece of firepower would put them in great stead to attack the title.

Tim Cahill says Arsenal would win the Premier League with Erling Haaland in their squad
Eberechi Eze remains of interest to Arsenal, and the Crystal Palace man could end up being the extra ‘x-factor’ they require.
However, the signing of Gyokeres should be sufficient for the Gunners to close the goal-scoring gap they had with Liverpool last term.
The Merseysiders scored 17 goals more than Arsenal, and given that Gyokeres netted 54 in all competitions for Sporting, he should help significantly reduce this seismic difference.
However, another man in the league would undoubtedly plug that gap with ease.
Speaking on the Takes from the Terrace podcast, Tim Cahill argued that Arsenal would win the Premier League title if they had Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who the Citizens signed for just £52 million in 2022.
“Do you think Mikel Arteta finally gets it done this season?
“Everybody wants him to, but again, when you look at clubs and you look at squads, Man City is the most complete squad. And you’ve got Haaland. If you were to pick Haaland up and put him in Arsenal, who wins the league? You’d say Arsenal.
“So it comes down to how big a club is and who they can attract and the processes of those windows and whatever. But if Mikel doesn’t win the league, is that bad?
“No, he’s going up against the best Premier League team ever. You have to see.”

Erling Haaland’s statistics 2022-2025
It’s difficult to dispute Cahill’s claim about Haaland at Arsenal.
The argument that could be made against the Norwegian is that he wouldn’t offer enough in possession and the build-up for a Gunners side that requires their striker to be heavily involved in play.
That said, a player who provides that much value through his goals can and should always be accommodated.
| Erling Haaland Statistical Comparison (Premier League Only) | |||
| Stat | 2022/23 | 2023/24 | 2024/25 |
| Appearances | 35 | 31 | 31 |
| Goals | 36 | 27 | 22 |
| Assists | 8 | 5 | 3 |
| Shots per 90 | 3.77 | 3.98 | 3.42 |
| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.92 | 1.03 | 0.72 |
As shown by the data above, Haaland guarantees you over 20 goals every season in the Premier League, something basically no other striker in the league can offer.
Add these goals to Arsenal’s ridiculously astute defensive set-up, and the Gunners probably would comfortably win the title.
