Tim Sherwood says there’s a ‘very good’ player at Arsenal but he can’t even get a game right now

The consensus in football right now is that Arsenal have the best squad in the Premier League.

The Gunners have been one of the most efficient teams in the division over the last three seasons, but lack of depth in their squad cost them the title in all of those campaigns.

Andrea Berta was brought in to solve that issue, and the Italian delivered by signing eight new players in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal now have at least two top-class players in every position, which is incredible, but that has led to limited game time for many, like Ben White.

Tim Sherwood hails Ben White despite lack of minutes at Arsenal

White is one of Arsenal’s most talented players.

The England international was arguably the best right-back in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season, when Jurrien Timber was out injured.

White played a good chunk of that season with an injury. He was a warrior in that campaign, and he proved a lot of people wrong with his performances.

However, since the start of last season, Timber has been unbelievable for Arsenal, which is why White rarely plays these days.

Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood, however, is still a big believer in White’s qualities.

He said on Team Talks on Premier League Productions: “I think they’re the most balanced squad in the division, I really do.

“Years ago, even last year, you would’ve said: ‘Lose Gabriel or Saliba, you’re going to struggle.’ Mosquera has come in.

“Ben White can’t even get stripped at the moment. For me, he’s a very good player.”

The real reason why Ben White lost his place in the Arsenal squad

Timber deserves a lot of praise for taking White’s place in the Arsenal side and delivering.

The Dutchman hasn’t put a foot wrong for a long time, and Sherwood thinks he is ‘the best fullback in the Premier League‘ right now.

However, Timber may not have got into the team if it weren’t for White’s fitness issues.

Playing through injuries has had a negative impact on the former Brighton man.

He had to play almost every game because Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu were both unavailable, and the toll that has taken on his body has affected him for over a year.

White is consistently making the squad now, which shows that he is in good shape. He will get his chance at some point, and we are convinced that he will not disappoint.
