If one man knows a thing or two about being Arsenal captain, it’s Tony Adams.
Adams was Arsenal skipper in some of the club’s greatest days and is widely regarded as one of the best leaders in Premier League history.
Few will forget Adams’ memorable goal on the final day against Everton, while four Premier League titles and an entire career at the club mean he’s very much a legend.
Who is Arsenal’s GREATEST EVER captain and why?
Of course, some chatter in recent times has been around Martin Odegaard and his captaincy.
Odegaard is a very different leader to Adams. But with his form dropping in recent weeks, some have questioned if he could actually be dropped.
However, Adams himself believes if what he’s heard is right, then Odegaard is the right man.
Tony Adams says what he’s heard about Martin Odegaard as Arsenal captain
Adams was speaking on TalkSport about all things Arsenal and one of the subjects was captaincy.
Given Adams made 669 appearances for the club, he’s in a good position to comment on matters.

And according to Adams, there is absolutely no issue with Odegaard as captain.
“I hear within the camp, I’m not within the camp, I hear he’s very good, Odegaard, and the lads love him,” Adams commented.
“So, I can understand why they are united behind him and that’s absolutely fine.”
Martin Odegaard’s record as Arsenal captain
Tony Adams is Mr Arsenal and there’s an argument to say that nobody will ever surpass him in terms of being the club’s best captain.
For someone like Martin Odegaard, all they can do is be successful and win games and trophies.
Right now, Odegaard does not have the trophies but in terms of performances as captain, he’s more than impressed.
If you were a defender, which Arsenal player would you least like to play against?
Adams isn't concerned about Gyokeres 😅
As of right now, Odegaard has captained the club 159 times. Impressively, he has won 86 Premier League games as skipper and this season, surpassed Patrick Vieira in games won as skipper.
If Odegaard can get Arsenal over the line this season, then he is some way to cementing his own legacy.
From there, he’ll need to build and win more to truly put his name among the Arsenal greats.
