Gary Neville has had a lot to say about Arsenal over the years that has angered Gunners fans.

The Manchester United legend was extremely successful as a player, but after being one of the worst managers La Liga has ever seen, he decided that punditry was the only way forward.

Neville, on occasion, makes some decent points, but more often than not, his opinions feel like they are designed to get a reaction.

That was once again the case a few months ago, and an unlikely rival has now jumped to one Arsenal player’s defence.

Djed Spence disagrees with Gary Neville’s claim about Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly

Back in February, Arsenal battered Manchester City 5-1 at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta absolutely outclassed Pep Guardiola and picked up his biggest win over the champions.

Myles Lewis-Skelly scored for Arsenal in that game and copied Erling Haaland’s celebration. That was in response to the Norwegian having a go at him in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.

After the game, multiple people had a go at Lewis-Skelly and criticised him. Neville and Jamie Carragher branded the Arsenal youngster as ‘disrespectful’ for his actions (Sky Sports).

Rio Ferdinand previously slammed Neville for his comments on Lewis-Skelly, and now, Tottenham star Djed Spence has jumped to the Arsenal youngster’s defence.

When asked about that Lewis-Skelly celebration, Spence said: “I loved it, man. I was like ‘he’s a bad boy for that’. Haaland said to him “Who are you?” He scored and let him know who he was. Why not do that?

“I heard comments that ‘he’s a young kid, he hasn’t won anything…”

Ferdinand then added: “Gary Neville said it’s disrespectful.”

Spence replied: “Why? Why is it disrespectful? It’s just a part of the game. It’s just a response. I think that’s the perfect response. So, yeah, I loved it, to be fair.”

Gary Neville should stop talking about Arsenal

Arsenal fans have no love for Neville, and rightly so.

The former Manchester United man was annoying as a player, but many fans respected him because he was a decent right-back. But, as a pundit, he is truly awful.

Neville fires needless shots at Arsenal and is often very hypocritical. There is rarely ever any informative analysis – he just tries to divide the fan base with his comments.

We know it’s not going to happen, but if it was up to us, we would ban Neville from talking about Arsenal ever again.

But, for now, the best thing Arsenal fans can do is ignore him.
