Arsenal are facing several injury issues ahead of their clash with Liverpool, and three key players have now missed training.

Mikel Arteta is already without captain Martin Odegaard and defender William Saliba, as a result of injury and suspension, and he now has a host of other problems to deal with.

With Liverpool in excellent form and Arsenal heading into the game off the back of two poor performances, there is extra pressure on the home side to avoid defeat.

However, their task will be a lot more difficult if some of their injured stars cannot return in time to face Arne Slot’s side, who are also missing attacker Diogo Jota.

Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori miss Arsenal training before Liverpool

Footage from Sky Sports has now revealed that Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori have all missed training, just two days before Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool.

It emerged after the victory over Shakhtar that Saka and Timber would face late fitness tests to see if they could participate, whilst Calafiori appears set to be sidelined after being withdrawn in midweek.

Arsenal need Saka and Timber to return

Although Arsenal have alternative options to Saka and Timber, if they are to stand any chance against Liverpool they will need both players to return.

Both Calafiori and Timber being out at the same time would be disastrous, given the deadly speed of the Liverpool attack on the wings.

Arsenal have failed to create chances with both Saka and Odegaard out, and missing both players again will make it an incredibly tough game, even if they have experienced alternatives in Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling.

Sterling is yet to impress since joining on loan from Chelsea, but will be keen to make an impression against his old side, whilst Jesus is lacking confidence in the middle of a lengthy goal drought.
