Troy Deeney has revealed his belief that one of Arsenal’s summer signings will ultimately disappoint the Gunners fanbase.
The North London club were extremely active in the market, with new sporting director Andrea Berta enacting something of an unprecedented transfer window.
Berta spent over £250 million on eight players, making this the most productive and expensive window for Arsenal in recent times.
Piero Hincapie was the final piece to be added to the jigsaw, signing from Bayer Leverkusen on an initial loan deal on deadline day.

Troy Deeney says Viktor Gyokeres will ‘fundamentally disappoint’ Arsenal fans
Arsenal signed Viktor Gyokeres for £63 million in July as their marquee addition of the summer.
The Swede arrived in North London with an impressive goalscoring pedigree, having netted 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting CP over the last two years.
However, aside from a brace at home to Leeds United, the 27-year-old has endured something of a difficult start to life in the Premier League.
Gyokeres was poor against Manchester United on his debut before receiving more criticism for a quiet display away at Anfield on Sunday.
Troy Deeney hasn’t been impressed with the centre-forward and has now claimed that he will disappoint the Gunners faithful in the long term.
“Where was Gyokeres in the big games? In the big moments? Where was he?” Deeney said on his TikTok account.
“I think he’s going to score a lot of goals this season, somewhere between 16 to 20 goals in the Prem. He might not get over that 20 mark, but he’s going to score them against your Leeds Uniteds, your Wolves’, your West Hams.
“For me, it’s just a case of, ‘they brought him in to score in those big moments, and he just doesn’t turn up’. Waste of money is a bit harsh, but I think Arsenal fans are going to be disappointed fundamentally long-term.
“I don’t think he’s going to be the guy that scores the goals over the course of the season.”

Arsenal fans should reserve judgement on Viktor Gyokeres for now
Few strikers come in from abroad and hit the ground running immediately in the Premier League, and thus, Gyokeres deserves some time to settle before he is judged.
The Swede has been quiet in two games at two of the most difficult grounds to visit in English football, but scored a brace and performed well in the other.
This is far from a disastrous start, and it’s clear that his teammates are still acclimatising to having a different style of striker up front.
| Viktor Gyokeres’ Statistics vs Liverpool | |
| Minutes Played | 90 |

| Key Passes | 2 |

While Kai Havertz favoured dropping deep and involving himself in build-up play, Gyokeres’ inclination is to always run in behind, and his teammates haven’t quite grown accustomed to this yet.
Ultimately, the Sweden international has been bought for a significant fee and will have to produce, but judgement should be reserved for later down the line.
