Troy Deeney has heaped praise on an Arsenal star who he believes has been ‘remarkable’ this season.
The Gunners have enjoyed an exceptional start to the new season, winning eight of their opening ten matches across all competitions, conceding just three goals in the process.
Mikel Arteta’s team strolled to a 2-0 win over West Ham last time out, a result that saw them move to the summit of the Premier League table.
Inevitably, this form has elicited some excellent performances from a number of individuals within Arteta’s squad, and Deeney has chosen to highlight one of them.

Troy Deeney says Jurrien Timber has been ‘remarkable’ for Arsenal this season
Timber has quietly established himself as the best right-back in the Premier League.
Signed from Ajax for £34 million in 2023, the Dutchman spent the entirety of his first season in N5 on the sidelines after sustaining an ACL injury.
He’s returned to action firing on all cylinders, fighting off competition from Ben White to make himself the undisputed first choice on the right-hand side of the Arsenal defence.
Timber was outstanding against West Ham, while he was also one of the Gunners’ best players against Newcastle in the previous match.
This form has, unsurprisingly, started to attract praise from the general football landscape. Speaking on the Football Exchange, former Watford striker Deeney waxed lyrical about Timber.
“Do you know what I will have to say as well?” Deeney said.
“Jurrien Timber, he’s been unbelievable this year.”
“Yeah, he’s obviously come back from his injury, but this is the player I think they thought they were signing. He’s been remarkable. So, that right-hand side’s been very good.”
Jurrien Timber is starting to build a dynamic relationship with Bukayo Saka
The one aspect of Timber’s game that has been questioned is his ability in the final third.
The Netherlands international’s ability to provide Bukayo Saka with overlapping runs and pinpoint passes in forward areas has been put under a microscope and compared to Ben White’s quality in this area.
However, the 24-year-old is starting to build a rapport with Saka, and the two are combining more regularly to create dangerous moments.
Against Leeds earlier this season, Timber perfectly played a pass into the Arsenal talisman’s path to score. Against West Ham, there were similar instances where one of the two players would make a dart in behind and the other would find them.
The Arsenal full-back is becoming undroppable.
