The weaknesses in Arsenal’s squad have shown in recent weeks.
The Gunners have dropped points in eight of their first 16 league games. They are six points behind Liverpool already despite playing a game more than Arne Slot’s side.
Arsenal’s lack of creativity got exposed when Martin Odegaard was out injured, but the biggest issue, in many people’s eyes, is that the Gunners don’t have a prolific striker.
Troy Deeney, who knows a thing or two about scoring goals, thinks he knows the one striker who would be perfect for Arsenal.
Troy Deeney can’t understand why Arsenal have not signed Alexander Isak
Alexander Isak is one of the best strikers in the Premier League.
The Swede, who joined Newcastle United in a £60 million deal in the summer of 2022, is a fan favourite at St James’ Park, and he has been brilliant for them.
He has scored eight goals and provided four assists in all competitions so far this season, and according to Deeney, is now the best striker in the division.
The former Watford captain included Isak in his latest Team of the Week on BBC Sport, and he suggested that he can’t help but wonder why Mikel Arteta hasn’t signed him.
Deeney wrote: “Isak – the best striker in the Premier League at this moment in time. Yes, I’ve said it and yes I stand by it. He’s the complete striker. Unreal.
“Every time I watch him I keep thinking, how haven’t Arsenal signed him?
“He’s a really good player and finisher. He’s a poacher but he’s also such a silky player. You don’t see many silky poachers.”

How much will Isak cost Arsenal in January?
Arsenal need to do something big to displace Liverpool.
Slot’s men have looked really good all season, and they have managed to get results even when they haven’t been at their best. That, some would say, is the sign of champions.
Arteta’s side are not out of it, but something has to change for them to go on a big run. A new striker in January could make a massive difference and Isak would be perfect.
Chelsea are also interested in signing the Swede and could provide stiff competition if Newcastle make him available for a transfer.
However, he will not come cheap. Reports have claimed that Chelsea and Arsenal will have to pay at least £115 million for Isak if they want to sign him in January.
