Arsenal are preparing for the biggest game of their season as they host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Gunners will be looking to progress into their first final in Europe’s elite competition since 2006.

Real Madrid were dismantled by Arsenal in the last round, with the North Londoners running out 5-1 winners over Los Blancos on aggregate.

Mikel Arteta’s team will be buoyed by their success against the European Champions, although they’ll face an in-form PSG side, whilst having to contend with injury issues.

Mikel Merino and Ben White spotted in Arsenal training

Arsenal will be without long-term absentees Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Takehiro Tomiyasu for the visit of PSG.

Aside from these injured players, Arteta should have a mostly fit squad to select from for the first leg.

Mikel Merino missed Arsenal’s clash against Crystal Palace last week due to a fitness issues, whilst Ben White was also absent.

Both players were doubts for the game against Luis Enrique’s side on Tuesday, but both have now been spotted in training ahead of the European encounter.

According to Sky Sports journalist Sam Blitz, both Merino and White both took part in Arsenal’s open training session on Monday.

Thomas Partey is suspended for the game, and thus, Merino is likely to start in midfield for the Gunners, with White likely to remain on the bench.

Riccardo Calafiori absent from Arsenal training before PSG clash

While there’s been no official confirmation yet, Riccardo Calafiori didn’t appear to be in Arsenal’s training session on Monday.

Calafiori has been absent since sustaining an injury on international duty for Italy, missing Arsenal’s last seven matches in all competitions.

Arteta would no doubt love to have Calafiori available to him for these huge Champions League games, to give him another option on the left-hand side of the defence, whether that be in place of Jakub Kiwior or Myles Lewis-Skelly.

However, still seemingly not back out on the pitch, the odds of the Italian featuring against the French Champions appear very slim.

Arteta could even use Calafiori in midfield at some point this season, if the 22-year-old is eventually fit.
