Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres believes that he is better than any striker in the world when it comes to taking penalties.

The 27-year-old has become the Gunners’ designated penalty taker, along with Bukayo Saka, this season following his £63 million arrival last summer.

Gyokeres has enjoyed a remarkably successful debut campaign in England, netting 18 goals in 47 matches for the North London club.

Now, he has been asked to select the ultimate striker from generations past, and he picked himself when it came to penalties.

Viktor Gyokeres thinks he’s the best penalty taker

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres has picked himself as the ultimate penalty taker compared to any attacker in world football.

Over the duration of his career, Gyokeres has scored 35 of the 39 penalties which he has taken, missing just four of them.

The Arsenal striker has scored three times from the spot this season, which came against Leeds United, Everton and most recently Bournemouth.

Following his recent goal against Bournemouth, Arsenal fans claim Gyokeres is the club’s best penalty taker as he unleashed an unstoppable effort past Djordje Petrovic.

Saka is Arsenal’s other penalty taker, and it will be interesting to see who will take the team’s next penalty when they are both on the pitch.

Saka is due to return from injury sometime this week, with the Gunners now looking to keep up the pressure on Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

If Arsenal were to get a penalty, it is likely to be a very high-pressure moment given the stakes, and surely, given Gyokeres’ record, it should be him taking.

In terms of other attributes, he picked Harry Kane for finishing and Kylian Mbappe for speed.

For first touch, he went old-school and picked former Spurs and Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Strength he gave to his fellow countryman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, skills went to R9 Ronaldo and composure he picked Cristiano Ronaldo.
