Viktor Gyokeres is the talk of the town after he completed his move to Arsenal.

The Sweden international has been one of the best strikers in Europe over the last two years, and he was due a big move away from Portugal.

Sporting CP’s negotiating tactics frustrated Arsenal, but new sporting director Andrea Berta used his experience to strike the perfect deal.

Gyokeres is a Gunner now, and the striker has broken a record already – despite not playing a single game yet.

Arsenal fans have been waiting for a new striker for quite some time now.

Mikel Arteta’s only signing up top in his years as Gunners boss has been Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City in the summer of 2022.

That move didn’t work out as well as everyone had hoped, so fans have been begging for a new number nine in each of the last few windows.

Arsenal finally signed Viktor Gyokeres over the weekend, and fans can already use the ‘record breaker, history maker’ phrase to describe him.

The Athletic have revealed that the Sweden international has broken the record for most shirt sales in the history of the club.

Arsenal have offered to print Gyokeres’ name for free for a limited period, which may have played a part, but to see him smash a record before even stepping onto the pitch for a game is incredible.

Gyokeres is expected to play with his new shirt for the first time against Tottenham in Hong Kong on Thursday.

It is no surprise that many Arsenal fans are ordering their own Gyokeres shirt.

If the Swede goes on to have a good season, the Gunners will be in a great position to win either the Premier League or the Champions League, or both.

However, Gyokeres cannot do it alone. He will need help from other Arsenal stars, including the four whose shirts were extremely popular before his arrival.

The Athletic reveal that Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard were the fan favourites, while there was also a lot of demand for Myles Lewis-Skelly’s 49 shirt as well.

If those four players, along with Gyokeres, perform at their best levels, Arsenal will become unstoppable.
