Arsenal fans sensed the start of something new when Kai Havertz assisted Viktor Gyokeres against Kairat Almaty.
In his first start of the season, Havertz wasted no time announcing his return among Mikel Arteta’s starters.
The Emirates were celebrating a goal just two minutes after kick-off against Kairat Almaty, as Havertz broke through in midfield before threading a perfect pass into Gyokeres.
Gyokeres converted the chance to put Arsenal ahead early, yet it wasn’t the last instance that we saw the two strikers combine.

Who was Arsenal’s Man of the Match vs Kairat Almaty?
Viktor Gyokeres speaks about his partnership with Kai Havertz
While Gyokeres didn’t have the best game in front of goal against Kairat, one overriding positive was how well he appeared to work with Havertz.
Havertz shone in midfield to offer the creative spark that the Gunners had been missing in his absence, a spark that Gyokeres had also been deprived of.
After the game, it came as no surprise to hear the striker get asked to comment on what could be the start of an encouraging partnership with his returning teammate.
“It was great,” Gyokeres told the media, as per Hayters TV.
“I think obviously it was great to get the ball from him so early on and to score a goal, and then yeah, he obviously did great on the other two goals as well. So yeah, really, really happy for him.”
Havertz warmly welcomed Gyokeres to Arsenal after the Sweden international completed his transfer, and now, he’s making his teammate feel supported on the pitch.
Mikel Arteta should make a change at Arsenal that would stun everyone
While Havertz shone in midfield, right now, there’s no room for the German to make the middle trio.
Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi will almost certainly return to the starting XI to face Leeds, but that doesn’t mean that it’s either Gyokeres or Havertz up front.
Why can’t it be both?
Agree or disagree, Arteta could transform Arsenal’s attack with a formation change.
Who would like to see this? 👀
Arteta playing a 4-4-2 formation would be a shock, but it could also work to Arsenal’s advantage, given the need to add some creativity to the front line.
Having seen how Gyokeres and Havertz linked against Kairat, it’s surely worth a try at a time when the Gunners are crying out for more impact going forward.
