Arsenal are working really hard to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer.
The 27-year-old rose to the top of the Gunners’ wish list after they couldn’t reach an agreement to sign Benjamin Sesko.
Talks have been ongoing between Arsenal and Sporting CP for the transfer of Gyokeres, and although an agreement is yet to be reached, there is hope from all parties that a deal can be struck.
While the clubs sort out the discussions, Gyokeres has given an interview, and one of his comments will be of interest to Arsenal fans.
Viktor Gyokeres reacts to players like Gabriel Magalhaes copying his celebration
Viktor Gyokeres has one of the most iconic celebrations in the game today.
The Swede interlocks his fingers and covers his mouth every time he scores, and that has become extremely popular among football fans.
Gyokeres did the same celebration after scoring a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League last season.
In the very next game in the competition, he faced Arsenal. One of the scorers that night was Gabriel Magalhaes, and the Brazilian copied his celebration — well, sort of.
Instead of covering his mouth like Gyokeres does, Gabriel chose to cover his eyes after scoring against the Swede’s Sporting CP side.
Many felt that Gabriel was mocking Gyokeres, but the striker has now revealed that he finds it ‘funny’ when players copy his celebration.
He told L’Equipe: “I’ve been doing it every time I score. Lots of people have copied it, which is cool!
“Even though some have done it against me, I actually just find it funny.”

Gabriel Magalhaes and Viktor Gyokeres could form an unlikely partnership at Arsenal
Strikers and defenders play at different ends of the pitch, and that will be the case with Gabriel and Gyokeres if the latter ends up moving to Arsenal.
However, we think the two players will get along really well.
Gyokeres has a bit of arrogance that all the great strikers do. He loves scoring goals and is not afraid to celebrate his success either.
Gabriel loves winding up his opponents. From screaming in Erling Haaland’s face to mocking Ivan Toney on social media, the £27m defender has had his fun.
We think the two players together will wreak havoc if they join forces at the Emirates next season.
