Viktor Gyokeres is closing in on a full year at Arsenal.

The Swede joined the Gunners from Sporting CP in July last year, and he needed time to adapt.

However, since the turn of 2026, Gyokeres has looked a lot better and seems to have struck a better understanding with his teammates.

Now, the striker has revealed who he thinks is the best English player at the club.

If you could sign one England international at Arsenal, who would it be?

Viktor Gyokeres snubs Bukayo Saka and names Declan Rice as England’s best player

England currently have their best squad in years.

The Three Lions are genuine contenders to win the World Cup, and two Arsenal players will be key for them.

Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka are guaranteed starters, and they will have a huge role to play.

Viktor Gyokeres has played all season with the two players, and he has seen them develop every day.

As an attacker, you would imagine that he would think that the player in a similar position is better.

However, when asked to name who England’s best player is by TNT Sports, he chose Rice without any hesitation.

That shows just how highly rated the Arsenal number 41 is behind the scenes at the club.

People are sleeping on Bukayo Saka

The general consensus from every football fan based on this season will be that Rice is better than Saka.

That is true because the Arsenal number seven has struggled with injuries all season and is only just returning to his best.

However, there are people who are discrediting Saka without really taking into account the circumstances.

We are convinced that those people will regret it because once the Arsenal academy graduate is fully fit, he will return to being one of the best players in the world.

Arsenal are lucky to have him and Rice in the same squad, as are England.
