Some West Ham United fans are still a bit bitter about the fact that Declan Rice plays for Arsenal now.

The England international was a Hammer for many years and was even their captain. He was immense for them and played a huge part in helping them win the Europa Conference League in 2023.

However, right after that, Arsenal signed Rice for a club-record fee, and the midfielder has been absolutely incredible for the Gunners since.

Fans of the Emirates Stadium club love Rice, but there are a few West Ham supporters who just haven’t moved on from his departure.

West Ham fan makes ridiculous claim about Arsenal’s Declan Rice

Rice had a brilliant debut season at Arsenal.

The Englishman produced the best-attacking output of his senior career by directly contributing to 17 goals in all competitions from midfield.

Rice also got into the PFA Team of the Year for his performances at Arsenal, and almost everyone will agree that he had a phenomenal debut campaign under Mikel Arteta.

However, a few West Ham fans think Rice has gotten worse since leaving the London Stadium, which is just a ridiculous claim.

One Irons supporter went as far as saying: “We’ve all had our banter about it, but Declan Rice 100 per cent is not the same player that he was at West Ham anymore.

“There’s no doubt he’s regressed as a player since leaving us, and it’s all come as a result of constant media pressure for him to sign for a ‘bigger club’.”

Arsenal fans, as you would expect, have had a go at that assessment on social media, but something else happened just around 24 hours later that made the claim look even more silly.

Arsenal star Declan Rice gets nominated for the Ballon d’Or award

Four Arsenal players have been nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, and former West Ham star Rice is one of them.

After helping the Gunners get close to winning the Premier League title and playing a big part in England’s road to the final of Euro 2024, the midfielder’s contribution is finally being recognised.

Rice is one of the best players in the world now, and every unbiased football fan will agree that he has improved massively since leaving West Ham.

The Hammers fan’s post about Rice has well and truly backfired, and Arsenal supporters are having a field day on social media now following their number 41’s Ballon d’Or nomination.
