Max Dowman is the future of Arsenal, but that doesn’t mean other clubs are not looking at him.
The teenager has become a household name in recent months, and his popularity went through the roof after he scored his first Premier League goal against Everton recently.
Arsenal have secured Dowman’s future, but 18 months ago, an agent tried to get Ajax to sign him. The Dutch giants knew back then that it wasn’t even a possibility.
How many Premier League goals will Max Dowman score before he’s 20? 😳
Exceptional.
Ajax’s response to signing Max Dowman from Arsenal speaks volumes
Max Dowman has been in the spotlight since he was just 13 years old.
The youngster was given opportunities to train with older players at such a young age, and everyone at Arsenal knew they had a potential superstar coming through.
Dowman was so good that clubs outside the Emirates Stadium were also keeping an eye on him. One of them was Ajax in the Netherlands.
Club coach and former player Ronald de Boer has revealed that an agent sent him a video of Dowman 18 months ago and asked him to sign the youngster.
When the Dutchman forwarded the suggestion to Ajax’s scouting team, they claimed that they were already looking at him.

But they knew that they could never sign him.
De Boer said, as per Ajax1.nl: “The funny thing is, a year and a half ago, an agent sent me a video about this player and said: ‘Ronald, you have to watch this. He is such a great player and really something for Ajax. A real Ajax player.'”
When asked what happened after the Ajax scouting team was informed, he replied: “They said, ‘We are already working on that, but he is almost impossible to sign’.
“He was already so good back then.”
It’s no surprise that other clubs knew about Dowman’s talent and potential over a year ago, but what speaks volumes is the fact that they didn’t try to sign him because they knew he was going nowhere.

Thomas Tuchel hints at England World Cup squad call-up for Max Dowman
Dowman’s performance when he came on against Everton was so impressive that some people wanted him in the England squad.
Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel announced his squad for the upcoming international break, and unsurprisingly, the Arsenal teenager was not called up.
However, the German claimed that he could yet select Dowman for the World Cup this summer.
He said, as per ESPN: “He put himself in the spotlight with this amazing goal against Everton. I think he is at the moment, obviously, a fantastic talent and an outstanding talent. At this age, there cannot be a doubt about it.
Should Max Dowman go to the World Cup with England: Too soon, or just right?
“Everyone who tells me about Max praises him and is full of compliments. The reality is, at the moment, he competes for minutes. He is not a regular starter for Arsenal. I think he is in a fantastic environment, the best possible: in a competitive club, a stable club, a club where teamwork is the number one rule.
“This is how they play, how they function. He learns from the very best environment. With these young guys, of course, we know all these players. We see them as you do as well. At the moment, I think he is in a good place to fight for his minutes at Arsenal.
“We always have the chance to call him, maybe, up for the World Cup.”
