Arsenal have been knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners went into the game at the Parc des Princes with a lot of hope despite losing the first leg at the Emirates Stadium a week ago.

Mikel Arteta got his tactics spot on, and Arsenal dominated the opening exchanges. They could’ve been 3-0 up before the 10th minute of the game – they were that good.

But, as we’ve seen so many times already this season, Arsenal failed to take their chances, and mistakes at the other end of the pitch cost them.

One player who had a really difficult game is young Myles Lewis-Skelly.

French media react to Myles Lewis-Skelly’s performance during PSG vs Arsenal

Lewis-Skelly has had an unbelievable season.

From being nowhere near the first team to becoming the first-choice left-back and playing against the biggest teams in the world is a phenomenal rise.

The 18-year-old has produced several exceptional performances for the Gunners over the last few months, but, for the first time, Lewis-Skelly had an off day against PSG.

The teenager made several errors on the ball, gave up possession to the Ligue 1 side’s attackers in dangerous areas and even conceded a penalty.

It was a difficult evening for Lewis-Skelly, who has received some criticism now from sections of the French press.

Foot Mercato gave him a 3/10 rating and wrote: “The step was perhaps a little high for MLS. Rather imprecise on his crosses, even when he has space, he nevertheless started his match with two major defensive interventions to leave Paris in his camp.

“However, he is the author of two cataclysmic ball losses, which could have given Paris a goal. Warned for a gross foul on Bradley Barcola, who was running behind the defence. The young Englishman is the sad author of a handball in the area, which gave Paris a penalty.

MaxiFoot also gave him a 3/10 rating and said: “The young left back was not there in this meeting. Author of several dangerous ball losses, he was also unfortunate with a hand in his area, which gave PSG the penalty.”

Homme du Match were more generous. They rated Lewis-Skelly 5.5/10 and wrote: “A very complicated match for the young English full-back. Often pressed by opposing players, he lost numerous balls in dangerous areas, allowing the Parisian attackers to launch counterattacks.

“Much better in possession, his role in midfield allows him to show his technical qualities and his excellent vision of the game.”

Lewis-Skelly is often so assured on the ball.

But, against PSG on Wednesday, Lewis-Skelly had a night to forget.

It was a disappointing evening for Lewis-Skelly and Arsenal, but this should not bring him down.

Even the best players in the world have off days – the game against PSG was arguably the youngster’s first ever poor display.

We’re sure Lewis-Skelly would’ve learnt a lot from the defeat in Paris, and we’re convinced that he will bounce back very soon.
