John Terry has admitted that it is a horrible feeling to miss a penalty in the Champions League final after Gabriel Magalhaes skied Arsenal’s fifth spot kick.

It was very interesting to see the Brazilian defender sent up as Arsenal’s fifth penalty taker, with the Gunners looking to stay in the shootout.

Gabriel ended up blasting his effort over the crossbar and raising questions as to why he was the player tasked with taking it.

Following the painful miss, Terry has sent a message to the Arsenal defender, having been in the same boat back in Moscow in 2008.

John Terry sends support to Gabriel Magalhaes

John Terry has sent his best wishes to Gabriel Magalhaes after missing Arsenal’s fifth and final penalty in the Champions League final shootout.

The Chelsea defender claims that the Brazilian international has been excellent this year, but knows that the next few days afterwards will be tough.

The 28-year-old will now need to put the disappointment behind him and remember just how good he has been over the course of the season.

“Fair play to Arsenal, I think they’ve been superb.. Premier League and Champions League. But they just miss out tonight, and it’s a horrible way to lose,” Terry said on TikTok.

“So, feeling for Gabriel, I’ve been there. Trust me, it’s not a good place, and for the next few days you’ll feel even worse. But things move on, and you’ll be back again next season.

“So I wish him well. It’s a tough way to lose and miss that last penalty, and like I said, I’ve been there, I’ve done it myself, and it’s a horrible feeling.

“But I wish him well; he’s been superb this season. So I hope he’s understanding just how good he has been this year, and I wish him well for next season.”

Gabriel was outstanding during the final in Budapest, and it is devastating for his evening to end in such disappointment.

Now, the defender will go away to the World Cup with Brazil and look to come back to Arsenal next season with the motivation to go again in the Champions League.
