Arsenal are working tirelessly to strike an agreement with Ethan Nwaneri over a new contract.
The Hale End graduate enjoyed a breakthrough over the 2024/25 campaign, becoming a valued member of Mikel Arteta’s first team.
As Arsenal’s starters returned from injury, Nwaneri’s game time naturally decreased, which might have thrown a spanner in the works.
Nwaneri has yet to agree on a new contract with Arsenal, and while there’s optimism that an agreement will be struck, other clubs are attentive to the situation.

Borussia Dortmund offered Ethan Nwaneri the Jude Bellingham experience
Chelsea have shown an interest in Nwaneri, whose Arsenal contract expires in 2026.
It would be a nightmare situation for the Gunners to fail to agree on a new contract with the 18-year-old, who is far too big of a prospect to let leave the club anytime soon.
Arsenal and Chelsea have enjoyed exchanging players in recent years, but for Nwaneri, the Blues aren’t the only option.
Sources close to Arsenal Insider explained that the German pathway could interest Nwaneri, which is something Borussia Dortmund are aware of.
In a new update, the reliable Arsenal social media personality, ‘Hand of Arsenal’ reported that the Bundesliga club have ‘provided’ Nwaneri with a potentially thrilling opportunity.
Hand of Arsenal reported that Dortmund ‘provided’ the Hale End graduate with the ‘Bellingham route’ to stardom, which paved the England midfielder’s way to Real Madrid.
Though such avenue would tempt any player in the early stages of their career, Nwaneri’s preference appears to be Arsenal.

Arsenal progressing in Nwaneri contract talks
Having been at Arsenal since the age of eight and being a boyhood fan of the Gunners, Nwaneri’s preference being the Emirates is unsurprising.
Arteta has shown plenty of trust in the teen, giving Nwaneri the understanding that he has a place in the Arsenal first team.
Hand of Arsenal noted that Arsenal are ‘close’ to striking an agreement with the academy graduate on a new contract, despite Dortmund’s desire to land the playmaker.
It’s now expected that Nwaneri will extend his stay at Arsenal, which is as important as any new signing this summer, given just how high the 18-year-old’s ceiling is.
