What sources close to Eberechi Eze immediately thought about his injury amid Arsenal scare

After Eberechi Eze was taken off against Bayer Leverkusen, it was thought that he had avoided injury, but the initial thoughts have since been proven wrong.

Eze is so good in the run-in to the end of the season, which is why his current injury scare is playing heavily on Arsenal fans’ minds.

As Arsenal lacked a technical edge against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final, it became clear how much Eze was missed, not helped by the ongoing absence of Martin Odegaard.

Mikel Arteta was not ready to make guesses about how serious Eze’s injury is when speaking after the cup final, proving that the immediate reaction to his problem was incorrect.

Eberechi Eze thought he had avoided injury as Arsenal wait on update

When asked about Eze after the final, Arteta said, “We have to do another scan in six or seven days and wait and see the results.”

Answer honestly, can Arsenal win the Premier League without Eberechi Eze?

The Arsenal manager confirmed that the playmaker has suffered an injury to his calf, an issue that the 27-year-old initially thought he had avoided.

On X, journalist Ryan Taylor of Football London informed that sources close to Eze were originally optimistic that the midfielder had not suffered an injury.

It makes sense, as Eze said he was ‘alright’ after the Bayer Leverkusen win, but that’s not the case.

As per Football London’s understanding, Eze ‘flagged discomfort’ once he returned to training, which led to tests uncovering a calf injury.

Arsenal now have to wait a week to discover the severity of the summer signing’s injury, which is very anxiety-inducing.

Unclear if Eberechi Eze’s injury is a nightmare or has come at a perfect time

There’s good and bad news, the good being that it’s the international break and the bad being that Arteta’s comments weren’t exactly encouraging.

Eze offers what the Arsenal squad do not have at present: flair, and it’s why the Gunners need him back promptly.

Fortunately, it’s the international break, giving Arteta a two-week wait without action until the FA Cup returns.

Arsenal don’t return to Premier League action for three weeks, which gives Eze time to recover, but it’s unclear if that’s possible.

The international break is the peak time for a player to recover ahead of the run-in, but it also presents a nightmare.

If Eze’s injury is worse than first thought, he could miss the decisive fixtures once the break ends.

Arsenal face the Champions League quarter-final as well as the Premier League clash against Man City soon after the international break concludes, and they really need Eze.

It’s going to be an uncomfortable wait to see how bad Eze’s injury is, so for now, we must remain optimistic.
