Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly started against Real Madrid in the quarter-final of the Champions League.

If somebody had told you that statement this time last year, there’s no way you would’ve believed that as the teenager was still playing for the Arsenal Academy then.

Lewis-Skelly’s rise to fame has been remarkable this season. He has cemented himself as Arsenal’s first-choice left-back now ahead of more experienced stars like Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney.

That is an amazing achievement, and the way he has been performing against some of the biggest sides in the world has just been a joy to watch.

Spanish press react to Myles Lewis-Skelly’s performance during Arsenal vs Real Madrid

Arsenal were absolutely incredible against Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men came to the Emirates as the favourites to win the game, but the Gunners were comfortably the better side.

Two stunning free-kicks from Declan Rice stole the show, while Mikel Merino’s lovely strike made it 3-0 to Arteta’s Arsenal ahead of the second-leg.

Rice has been receiving a lot of plaudits for his performance and rightly so, but Lewis-Skelly deserves enormous praise too for the way he dealt with the game.

Arsenal fans were blown away by Lewis-Skelly’s performance against Real Madrid, and it looks like members of the Spanish press are impressed too.

Mundo Deportivo called him mature and said: “At just 18 years old, he put in a performance to remember, both in defence and attack.”

Hailing his assist, Marca wrote: “Lewis-Skelly controlled the front, amazing in his mobility throughout the field, he put the pass into the area and with his left foot, Mikel Merino placed it next to the post.”

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s stats vs Real Madrid will blow you away

It’s a big thing for any 18-year-old to be playing for the senior side, but it’s a whole different level to be starting against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

That’s how big a talent Lewis-Skelly is, and the teenager showed absolutely no fear against the biggest club in the world on Tuesday night.

Lewis-Skelly maintained a 95 per cent passing accuracy against Real Madrid and wasn’t dribbled past a single time in the entire game either.

That is an amazing statistic, considering that he was playing against a Brazil international in Rodrygo.

This is just the start for Lewis-Skelly. He will become better and better in the coming years, and we are convinced that he will be a superstar at the top level.
