England boss Thomas Tuchel and his scouts have been keeping a close eye on Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly, Arsenal Insider understands.

It’s been a breakthrough season for the youngster, who has grown from a Hale End academy star to a first-team ace in a matter of months.

Myles Lewis-Skelly has become something of a regular at left-back for Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta placing plenty of faith in him.

Arsenal Insider understands that Lewis-Skelly is set to sign a new contract with the Gunners, which will keep him at the club long-term.

Beyond that, a bright future lies ahead for the 18-year-old who can feature in midfield or in the backline.

His impressive displays aren’t just capturing the attention of those at Arsenal, with a potential England call-up on the horizon.

England scouts watch Myles Lewis-Skelly amid call-up chance

With some impressive performances so far, it’s no surprise that Lewis-Skelly is being touted as a potential England senior international in the future.

With new boss Thomas Tuchel at the helm, there could be some shake-ups to the Three Lions squad for World Cup qualification.

Whether it’s changing some of the old guard for the new, up-and-coming players or just finding those who will fit his system, there is some change expected.

Whether Lewis-Skelly is involved remains to be seen, but it seems as though he is, at the very least, on the radar.

Speaking to TBR Football expert Graeme Bailey on the situation, he said: “Thomas Tuchel and his scouts have been working hard on assessing their current squad but also options beyond the player group and none more so than Lewis-Skelly.

“Tuchel had been told that England had few options on the left, but with Lewis Hall at Newcastle and Lewis-Skelly at Arsenal, I am told he is actually full of hope that England’s left-back or wing-back options could be amongst the most promising in the whole squad.”

It could see the youngster handed a chance to impress and cement himself as one of England’s most promising stars.

What position Myles Lewis-Skelly could play for England

It remains to be seen what formation Thomas Tuchel is set to play as the England manager, though it is expected he will switch to a three-centre-back formation.

That move means Lewis-Skelly would likely feature as a wing-back, though his suitability for that is unclear.

If Tuchel is looking to make use of width and attacking down the flank, the Arsenal youngster may be less suited to playing there.

However, if he is given the licence to tuck inside and play in the half-spaces to create chances, then it could work well.

Another position up for grabs may be the midfield, where Lewis-Skelly was playing during his academy days.

Whether he makes the transition back there, for either club or country, remains to be seen in the months ahead.
