William Saliba has delivered his verdict on Aaron Ramsdale’s performance for Arsenal after Saturday’s 2-1 win against Brentford.
The England international returned to the sticks for the Gunners with David Raya unable to play against his parent club, with Ramsdale causing an error that led to a Brentford goal.
Despite pulling off some brilliant saves in the second half as Arsenal came back to win 2-1, Ramsdale’s error was a costly one and the last thing the 25-year-old goalkeeper wanted on his return game for the Gunners.

Yet speaking to the Evening Standard, Saliba was quick to back his Arsenal teammate and to assure him that every player makes mistakes, something the centre-back himself has been guilty of this season.
Indeed, errors are part of the game, and with Ramsdale more than redeeming himself after the error in the first-half, the Arsenal shot-stopper can be proud of his comeback performance for the Gunners.
Saliba said when asked about Ramsdale’s performance and the goalkeeper’s mistake: “Every player makes mistakes, last month I made two mistakes and my teammates were with me.
“We are always together, we respond well, he responded well as well, he had three good saves and I am so happy for him.”

Saturday might well be the last time we see Ramsdale in an Arsenal shirt, with Raya clearly favoured by Mikel Arteta as the Spanish international has made the number one spot his own in north London.
Yet that’s not to take away Ramsdale’s talents, which many will argue are greater than Raya’s with the England international also two years younger than his new rival.
And Saturday’s mistake will be another lesson learnt for Ramsdale, who next season could flourish at one of Europe’s biggest clubs if given the platform to succeed.
