Arsenal star William Saliba has come up against some incredible attackers over the years and has dealt with them comfortably.

The Frenchman is among the best centre-backs on the planet, and he has produced great performances against superstars like Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.

If a defender can deal with those names, other players shouldn’t be able to cause too many problems. But Saliba says summer signing Eberechi Eze used to be a handful when he played against him.

Who has been Arsenal’s best summer signing so far?

Martin Zubimendi – £51m

Eberechi Eze – £68m

Viktor Gyokeres – £64m

Noni Madueke – £52m

Piero Hincapie – Loan

Cristhian Mosquera – £13m

William Saliba says Arsenal star Eberechi Eze is a nightmare to play against

Arsenal signed Eze from Crystal Palace in the summer after hijacking Tottenham Hotspur’s move.

The Englishman was a boyhood Gooner and was even a part of the club’s academy. He always dreamt of coming back one day, and his wish came true in August.

Arsenal fans were all delighted with the Eze signing, and he has had a decent start to life at the Emirates as well. His stunning hat-trick against Tottenham has been his biggest highlight so far.

The former Palace star is loving life at Arsenal, and one player who is thrilled to have him as a teammate is William Saliba – because he no longer has to play against him.

Speaking on the Men in Blazers podcast, the defender said: “Since I arrived at Arsenal, I have played a lot against him, and I watched him a lot. He’s wow… he’s an unbelievable player.

“Technically, he is like so good when you give him the ball. He’s never under pressure. He trusts himself, can score, he can pass, and he got the number 10 on his back as well. So, he has to be good with the ball.

“But yeah, it was a nightmare to play against him, and to have him in my team now is good because he can bring us to the top, top level.”

Eberechi Eze could be benched again when Arsenal face Aston Villa

Eze started the game against Brentford on the bench, and that could once again be the case when Arsenal take on Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Englishman was replaced by club captain Martin Odegaard, who had a very good game against the Bees.

With the Norwegian fully fit and available now, we expect him to keep his place in the side, which means Eze will have to settle for a spot on the bench.

The only way that could change is if Mikel Arteta drops Gabriel Martinelli and deploys the former Eagles star on the left wing.

That wouldn’t be a bad idea as the last time Eze played as a left-winger against Aston Villa, he scored two goals and provided an assist in a 5-0 win.
