Arsenal’s interest in a defender has seen them land on Marc Guehi as a potential target for the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have been on the hunt for a new defensive option, with transfer links to Dean Huijsen appearing early in the market.

While Arsenal missed out to Real Madrid on the Spaniard, attention turns to the other defenders the club could sign.

Among them is Marc Guehi, with the England international entering the final year of his contract over the summer.

It could be a deal that represents a bargain, with the England international still having plenty more years to progress.

So, with that said, here’s a look at the potential winners and losers in the squad from a potential Marc Guehi transfer to Arsenal.

Winners from Marc Guehi to Arsenal transfer

Gabriel Magalhaes

Gabriel Magalhaes recently signed a new contract extension with Arsenal, committing his future to the club until 2029.

With the Brazilian not looking to be knocked out of the starting lineup any time soon, the extra competition from Guehi could only elevate him.

Add to that the fact that he may not have to start every game, and Gabriel could be one of the big winners from the deal.

William Saliba

Another winner from the deal to sign Guehi could be Arsenal defender William Saliba.

The Frenchman played nearly every game last season, barring some small injury concerns, showing his importance.

However, after such an intensive season, having a rotation option to compete with him is key, and Guehi could offer that.

While Real Madrid circle a transfer move for Saliba, the switch also adds some extra protection there for Arsenal.

Myles Lewis-Skelly

As Myles Lewis-Skelly looks to earn a place in the England World Cup squad next year, some chemistry with others in the backline could certainly help his case.

For that reason, Guehi’s arrival could help create that partnership in the defence that could translate well to international duty.

Losers from Marc Guehi to Arsenal transfer

Jakub Kiwior

Competition in the defensive ranks may spell bad news for Jakub Kiwior and his future at Arsenal in the coming months.

The Polish international impressed in his spell in the team at the end of the season, replacing the injured Gabriel and making his mark.

However, with Kiwior transfer links emerging, along with the possibility of Guehi’s arrival, it could spell the end for him at the Emirates Stadium.

Riccardo Calafiori

Riccardo Calafiori has struggled in his first season at Arsenal after making the move from Bologna last summer.

The defender is capable of playing as a left-back or as a centre-back if required, giving him space to find somewhere in the team to play.

However, with Lewis-Skelly seemingly holding down the left-back position, the arrival of Guehi could make it tough for Calafiori to win back the centre-back spot.

That may only further impact the Italian international, who is looking to build some momentum for next season.
