Arsenal poised for millions with Jakub Kiwior transfer exit as sell-on clause status revealed

Spezia have no sell-on clause included in their deal with Arsenal for Jakub Kiwior, who is increasingly likely to depart the Emirates this summer, Arsenal Insider understands.

Kiwior is enjoying an impressive run in Mikel Arteta’s team due to Gabriel Magalhaes’ absence, starting each of the Gunners’ last eleven games in all competitions.

His stock has risen with these performances, sparking interest from a host of clubs in Italy, including AC Milan and Napoli.

Arsenal are reportedly demanding £30 million for Kiwior, and if they were to garner this fee for the Pole, they’d make a pure profit of over £12 million on the player.

Spezia have no sell-on clause for Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior

Arsenal signed Kiwior for a purported £17.5 million in January 2023.

The Poland international arrived in N5 to provide cover and competition for Gabriel and William Saliba, and while his minutes have been sporadic, he’s generally performed impressively when given an opportunity.

Hardly getting a look-in this season until Gabriel sustained a hamstring injury, Kiwior was exceptional over two legs against Real Madrid.

These eye-catching displays on the biggest stage appear to have prompted potential suitors on the continent to step up their interest in the 25-year-old ahead of the summer.

Several sides in Italy are monitoring Kiwior’s situation, and Arsenal may look to capitalise on the player’s rising stock by cashing in now and attaining a good fee for him.

The Gunners have an added motivation to sanction the centre-back’s departure, as Arsenal Insider understands that Spezia did not include a sell-on clause when they sold Kiwior to Arsenal.

The Serie A outfit will receive nothing from a potential Kiwior transfer, while the Gunners could bank as much as £30 million.

How much can Arsenal reasonably expect for Jakub Kiwior?

If Arsenal can generate Premier League interest in Kiwior, then expecting around £30 million is very reasonable.

A left-footed defender in his prime, who has shown he’s capable at Champions League level, should elicit a fee in that region.

However, if the interest is purely coming from Italy, Arsenal may have a more difficult time charging £30 million.

This fee would make Kiwior Napoli’s fifth most expensive signing of all time (via TransferMarkt), while he’d also become one of the Blues’ highest earners if he were to remain on his current wages.

Meanwhile, AC Milan have only splashed more than £30 million on eight players in their history.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, the Italian clubs aren’t often willing or able to spend big, and this will likely drive the price down.

On the flip side, the Gunners don’t really need to sell the player, and could leverage this in their negotiations.
