Arsenal star Riccardo Calafiori has suffered an injury while on international duty with Italy.

The Gunners have had so many injuries this season. Mikel Arteta’s dreams of winning the Premier League title have been crushed because of the same.

Just when things were starting to look up for Arsenal on the injury front, Calafiori went down awkwardly after a slip during Italy’s defeat against Germany on Thursday night.

The Arsenal defender limped off the pitch, and fans have been extremely worried about the extent of the injury since.

Riccardo Calafiori spotted limping while leaving the stadium after injury

Calafiori has had multiple injury issues in his career already.

The Italian is a phenomenal player. When he is fit, he is one of the best in the business in his role, but he has had a lot of struggles at his young age.

Just this season, Calafiori has missed 16 games for club and country because of four injuries. Now, there is a chance that number could go up.

During Italy’s defeat to Germany on Thursday night, Calafiori slipped and went to ground. It was a really awkward fall and he seemed to hurt his left knee.

The versatile defender had to be substituted, and in the mixed zone after the game, Calafiori was seen limping as he headed out of the stadium.

When one of the reporters there quizzed him about his injury, Calafiori replied: “I don’t know yet.”

It remains to be seen what the medical tests will tell us about the real extent of Calafiori’s injury in the coming days.

What Italy manager Luciano Spalletti said about Riccardo Calafiori’s injury

The big worry for Arsenal fans and Calafiori is that his injury is on the same knee that caused him serious problems when he was a youngster at Roma.

That almost ended his career at the time, but the Italian fought back to become the player he is today.

Seeing Calafiori limping on his way out of the San Siro is a really worrying sight, but the fact that he wasn’t on crutches could be viewed as a positive.

Italy boss Luciano Spalletti, who recently called Calafiori a matchwinner, didn’t have an answer when asked about the extent of the defender’s injury, but he claimed that the Arsenal man felt something ‘strange’ in his knee.

“We still don’t know if he’s injured. Ricky feels something strange at his knee but we still don’t know,” Spalletti told the media after the game.
