Andrea Berta already knows the five players he needs to get rid of at Arsenal this summer

Andrea Berta will soon become the new sporting director of Arsenal.

The Gunners have been looking for a replacement for Edu Gaspar since his departure in November last year. It has taken quite a while, but the process is almost done now.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that Berta has signed his Arsenal contract, and an official announcement is expected at some point during this international break.

All eyes will be on who Berta will bring in this summer, but there are a few players who need to be shown the door too.

We think Berta will already know the five players he has to sell at Arsenal in his first window in charge.

The five players Andrea Berta will have to sell at Arsenal

There will have to be plenty of changes at Arsenal next season.

Raheem Sterling and Neto will return to their parent clubs on loan, while Kieran Tierney has signed a pre-contract with Celtic to rejoin them this summer.

Gabriel Jesus would’ve been transfer-listed, but he has suffered an injury that will keep him out until the final few months of the year, so he will be going nowhere in the next window.

Apart from those names, there are five players who Berta must move on:

Oleksandr Zinchenko:

Oleksandr Zinchenko will enter the final year of his contract this summer, and this has to be the end of the road for him at Arsenal.

The Ukraine international played a huge part in helping the Gunners become title contenders, but he has fallen below Myles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori in the pecking order.

The best thing for both Arsenal and Zinchenko would be to part ways this summer.

Takehiro Tomiyasu:

Takehiro Tomiyasu is a fan favourite at Arsenal.

The Japan international is a phenomenal player. He can play anywhere across the backline and always does the job when he is fit.

But, injuries have been really cruel to him at Arsenal, and with Jurrien Timber and Ben White available at right-back, the best decision would be to move Tomiyasu on.

Jakub Kiwior:

Jakub Kiwior is a very solid player, but he has no future at Arsenal.

The Pole is behind both William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes in the heart of the defence, and he is nowhere near the top of Arteta’s pecking order at left-back either.

Arsenal can demand a decent fee for Kiwior thanks to his age, potential and versatility. Berta should use his connections to get a good deal for him.

Thomas Partey and Jorginho:

Thomas Partey and Jorginho are in the same boat at Arsenal.

Both midfielders are on the wrong side of 30, are out of contract in the summer and are already on significant wages.

Even though both of them have been solid this season, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to extend their deals at the age they are in.

We think Berta should decide against handing Partey and Jorginho new deals this summer.
