Andrea Berta could be about to make Steve Parish eat his words after bizarre Eberechi Eze transfer admission

Arsenal are in talks with Eberechi Eze over a transfer from Crystal Palace, years after the Premier League star was released from Hale End.

It appears that Eze is already sold on the idea of signing for Arsenal, with the attacking midfielder already charmed by Mikel Arteta’s project.

Growing up an Arsenal fan, Eze idolised the likes of Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie, and now, could follow in the duo’s footsteps.

Having been at Crystal Palace for almost five years, now could be the time for the 27-year-old to move on, which will come as no surprise to Eagles co-owner and chairman, Steve Parish.

Steve Parish made a shock statement about Eberechi Eze last summer

Palace have been a side feared by plenty of clubs, mainly due to the remarkable individual quality on show.

Last summer, the Eagles lost Michael Olise, selling the winger to Bayern Munich, sparking debate as to whether the South London club would also lose Eze.

The England international remained at Selhurst Park, something that left Parish stunned.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the 2024 summer transfer window, Parish admitted that he was ‘astounded’ that no club showed a real interest in Eze, in a rather bizarre admission.

“I was really, really worried from a club point of view, about losing Michael and Ebs in the same window,” he said.

“We didn’t have in Ebs, the interest I thought we would have. I was astounded! Genuinely astounded, the guy’s just an outstanding footballer and an outstanding person.”

Parish rounded the interview off by insisting that Eze would be ‘a gift to any football club’, a statement that he might regret saying now that the 27-year-old is showing an interest in joining Arsenal.

Eze’s Premier League record

Arsenal know all too well just how much success signing an in-form Premier League player can bring.

The Gunners haven’t looked back since spending a record £105m on Declan Rice, who arrived as one of the best in his position and simply grew into an even better player.

Eze could follow suit, in what would be a dream move for the player and Arsenal, who would undoubtedly benefit from his maverick playing style.

An impressive finisher and playmaker, Eze has it all, making it no surprise that Andrea Berta and Arteta are charmed by his ways.
