At the start of the campaign, the teenager was viewed as the next big thing and someone who would be a superstar at the Emirates in the coming years.
Then, after barely playing in the first half of the campaign, he was sent out on loan to Marseille, which turned out to be a disastrous move for him.
Now, Nwaneri is expected by everyone to be sold, but there could still be hope.
Arsenal are not expected to have either Bukayo Saka or Noni Madueke fully fit at the start of the campaign because of their exploits at the World Cup. They will miss a big chunk of pre-season as well.
That will open the door for Nwaneri to get opportunities on the right flank, even though he is naturally a number 10.
If the 19-year-old, as Myles Lewis-Skelly did in midfield, can grab the opportunity and deliver from that role, he could convince Arteta to keep him.
Arsenal fans will absolutely love that because no supporter likes the idea of selling the youngster, even if he will fetch a decent amount of money.

Playing an attacking midfielder out wide isn’t a drastic position change, but a lot of boxes need to be checked for Nwaneri to fulfil that role in Arteta’s system.
The Englishman is more than capable of doing so, but there is a more interesting central position he could play in.
Arteta once claimed that Nwaneri could play as a striker, and that option could open up if Gabriel Jesus leaves the club and Arsenal don’t sign a replacement.
That role change is a stretch at this stage, but it is an opportunity that Nwaneri will surely like to grab if it opens up in the coming weeks.
