Arsenal’s summer continues to get better and better.
Viktor Gyokeres has signed for Arsenal, Martin Zubimendi has joined the Gunners, and the north London club aren’t done there.
Indeed, Eberechi Eze is set to sign for Arsenal, and with a deal done, an announcement is imminent.
Of course, Eze’s arrival at the Emirates will have some serious knock-on effects for certain players.
Ethan Nwaneri may not be happy to see a new number 10 coming in, but there’s another young player at the Emirates who will benefit from Eze’s arrival.

Eberechi Eze is another great mentor for Max Dowman
The arrival of Eberechi Eze at Arsenal could be fantastic news for Max Dowman.
Indeed, when you watch Dowman and Eze play, it’s impossible to not see the similarities between the two players.
Both are exciting attacking midfielders who love to dribble, and Dowman will surely learn a thing or two from Eze in training in that regard.
On top of that, Eze knows what it means to be a great mentor and how that can help mould a player.
Eze arrived at Crystal Palace back in 2020 as something of an unpolished gem, but he improved at Palace under the tutelage of Wilfried Zaha.
Zaha helped to mentor Eze as a young player, and now Eze has the chance to return the favour and do the same for Dowman.
Dowman has impressed already at Arsenal, and he could be headed to the top with the right guidance.
Past Arsenal mentorship pathways
It shouldn’t be underestimated just how important these mentorship relationships can be at the top level.
Indeed, as much as you learn a lot from your coaches and your manager, sometimes it’s your peers who help you the most, and Arsenal know that better than most.
| Young Player | Mentor(s) | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Cesc Fàbregas | Patrick Vieira | Learned leadership and professionalism; became Arsenal captain and midfield star. |
| Jack Wilshere | Cesc Fàbregas | Received advice and guidance from Fabregas as a young midfielder breaking into the first team. |
| Hector Bellerín | Bacary Sagna | Hector Bellerin admitted he looked up to Bacary Sagna and he helped him as he came through. |
| Ashley Cole | Nigel Winterburn, Tony Adams | Learned defensive trade from two of the best in the game, Tony Adams took Cole under his wing as a young player. |
| Robin van Persie | Thierry Henry | Refined his finishing and movement by learning from Thierry Henry |
| Theo Walcott | Thierry Henry | Studied Henry’s runs and finishing, helped him refine his game |
| Emile Smith Rowe | Mesut Ozil | Emile Smith Rowe looked up to Ozil before he developed into Arsenal’s No.10 breakthrough star. |
| Gabriel Martinelli | David Luiz | Brazilian connection helped him adapt to England and grow as a player. |
Arsenal have had a number of key players emerge after being mentored by senior figures, and Eze could now continue that trend by helping Dowman reach his potential as a player.
