Arsenal fans relieved Kairat Almaty are at home instead of away
Kairat Almaty will be playing in the Champions League for the first time after beating Celtic in the final round of qualifying.
When it comes to the toughest away days for any UEFA team, Kazakhstan is right up there, given it’s seven to eight hours away by plane.
Chelsea had to face FC Astana in Almaty last December and, aside from the lengthy trip, they had to play in temperatures of -10C.
Luckily, Arsenal will not have to travel to Kazakhstan for the game, and this has come as a big relief to Gunners fans.
“Thank god Kairat at home,” one fan wrote on X, while another said: “Dodged a bullet having Kairat home instead of away.”
Another supporter wrote: “Just glad Kairat Almaty is a home fixture! A midweek trip to the Chinese border isn’t ideal for the squad.”
Other fans expressed relief, with one writing: “I cried tears of joy when I saw Kairat Almaty at home.”
Another said: “The most exciting thing here is we play 2 of the big 3 at home and we won’t travel 7 hours to Kazakhstan to play Kairat Almaty.”
Another wrote: “Kairat away would’ve been like a 10-hour journey between league games, thank god we got them at home.”
