Arsenal fans are wrong to complain about Phil Foden, this constant moaning needs to stop

So far this season, Arsenal have only dropped Premier League points in games in which they’ve been down to 10 men.

Of course, having received three red cards in eight games, Arsenal have already dropped seven points in those matches, something Mikel Arteta will be endlessly frustrated about.

Yes, Arsenal have been on the end of some very questionable decisions, mainly the second yellows for Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard.

Ultimately it’s hard to argue that William Saliba wasn’t the last man against Bournemouth, even if it was odd to see VAR overrule the referee’s decision.

But Arteta will want to move on at this point, and Arsenal fans need to as well.

Arsenal supporters furious about Phil Foden’s time-wasting

During Manchester City’s recent 1-0 win against Aaron Ramsdale and Southampton, Phil Foden wasn’t booked for delaying a restart.

Southampton were awarded a free-kick in their own half which Foden promptly ran over to stop being taken quickly.

As he walked away, Adam Lallana kicked the ball at Foden to prove a point, perhaps trying to get the City attacker booked.

However, Lallana was actually the one to receive a yellow for his own gamesmanship, something that infuriated a lot of Arsenal fans.

Taking to X, one Arsenal fan shared a video of the incident and wrote: “Foden delays Lallana from taking a quick free kick. Lallana gets booked”, along with two laughing emojis.

At the end of a heated debate, another fan said: “The point remains, if Foden had an Arsenal shirt he would have got a yellow.”

Arsenal fans need to move on from refereeing complaints

Admittedly, it was a surprise to see Lallana booked for his actions, but Arsenal fans seriously need to let their feeling of wrongdoing go at this point, it’s not going to produce anything positive.

Supporters at the Emirates Stadium would be much better focusing their energy on supporting their own team in the coming weeks and months, which involves a tough run of games for the Gunners.

Arteta has created a very together and insular atmosphere among the Arsenal players right now – he doesn’t want outside voices and opinions affecting their mood.

And Arsenal fans need to mirror that philosophy – who cares if Foden got away with something silly?

Despite his own frustrations, Arteta will ultimately know that Arsenal simply need to give referees no chance of influencing their games, and can be done by playing to their full potential.
