Arsenal have been big spenders in this summer transfer window.
Indeed, the Gunners have already shelled out more than £100m on new signings as they’ve added the likes of Martin Zubimendi, Kepa, Cristhian Mosquera and Christian Norgaard to the side.
Arsenal’s biggest signing of the summer so far has been Noni Madueke.
Madueke cost Arsenal £52m, and, many Arsenal supporters haven’t been so keen on this deal.
Indeed, there has been plenty of backlash against this signing, so much so that Declan Rice hit back at the critics.
However, unfortunately, those who didn’t want Madueke signed may now have an even bigger reason to be annoyed at this deal.

Noni Madueke deal looks worse as Alexander Isak suddenly becomes available
Arsenal came into this summer transfer window with one dream target in mind, Alexander Isak.
Indeed, Arsenal would’ve loved to have signed Isak, but he was seen as unattainable at the beginning of the summer.
Therefore, Arsenal allocated funds elsewhere and have spent big already, with Viktor Gyokeres set to arrive in the coming days too.
Gyokeres and Madueke will likely cost Arsenal a combined fee of around £120m, but if Arsenal had just kept their powder dry a little longer, they could’ve used that money to go after Isak instead of Gyokeres while using the Madueke money to supplement the transfer fee.
Unfortunately, Arsenal rushed into getting these deals done, and now, the cash well may have run dry, meaning that Isak may be headed to a direct rival such as Liverpool.
Viktor Gyokeres’ Sweden record is much better than Alexander Isak’s
Alexander Isak is a much more proven striker at the top level than Gyokeres, and he was Arsenal’s dream signing heading into this summer.
Ultimately, Arsenal didn’t have the patience to allow this door to open for them, and now, Viktor Gyokeres is set to sign instead.
Gyokeres is much less-proven than Isak at this point, but, interestingly, he does have a much better international record than his Swedish compatriot.
| Viktor Gyokeres | Alexander Isak | |
| 26 | International caps | 52 |
| 15 | International goals | 16 |
Of course, Isak does look like the better player at club level due to what he has already achieved in the Premier League, but despite being an unknown commodity, Gyokeres may well be able to score at a similar rate to Isak next season.
Arsenal will be gutted to have missed their chance to sign Isak, but Gyokeres isn’t a bad consolation prize, while, who knows? Madueke may also shock a few people next season too.
