Arsenal fans have earmarked a £60million-rated striker as “the most sensible option” to replace Kai Havertz.

Arsenal have been handed a blow in the shape of Kai Havertz being set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury.

Havertz missed Arsenal’s opening training session ahead of the clash against Leeds United, as did Ben White and Christian Norgaard.

Although it is unclear how severe Havertz’s injury is, Arsenal fans are trying to stay ahead of the curve in case he is set for a lengthy layoff.

Arsenal fans want Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins signed

When it comes to another attacking option for Arsenal that is both high-quality and realistic, fans have earmarked Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins as the right man.

Indeed, some feel Andrea Berta will indeed rekindle the club’s interest in the £60million-rated striker.

“I like the idea of having a Premier League-proven striker alongside Viktor Gyokeres,” one fan wrote on X. “Plenty of goals there.”

Another said: “Get Watkins – he will play the Havertz role very well and also he won’t mind being a rotational player.”

The calls for Watkins kept coming, with one fan writing: “We absolutely have to go for Leao or Rodrygo. Back up should be Watkins.

“No time for messing with Havertz out. We were already short, only blessing is it’s happened before the window closes. Clubs will likely command a higher fee knowing we’re desperate.”

Another said: “This is why we should’ve signed Watkins in January when we had the chance. Then strengthened again with Gyokeres.

“Then we would’ve had 2 strong ST options, with Havertz as the 3rd choice. Now, with Kai out, we’re down to just Gyokeres.”

Another said: “Can see us getting Watkins or someone with experience to replace Havertz ngl.”

Why Arsenal stand a good chance of signing Ollie Watkins

Arsenal made a bid for Ollie Watkins in the final week of the January transfer window, but it was a deal that didn’t go through.

Watkins’ contract runs until 2028, which means Villa’s hand would be quite strong in negotiations.

However, with Watkins set to turn 30 in December, it would be a good opportunity for them to cash in on him.

From their perspective, Watkins’ stock is high at present, and they know Arsenal will be looking round for a Havertz replacement.

The Guardian recently claimed Villa are still demanding £60million for Watkins.
