‘Sad times’… Arsenal fans fuming over decision they feel could mean ‘goodbye to the title’

Arsenal fans have made their feelings clear amid reports suggesting Leandro Trossard has agreed a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Leandro Trossard‘s future at Arsenal appeared uncertain amid speculation linking the club with a new left-winger for much of the summer.

However, much of this speculation has petered out, casting doubt on the prospect of Arsenal bringing in a new left-winger.

Now, it looks as though the Gunners have decided to keep hold of Trossard for the remainder of the season at least.

And Arsenal fans reckon this will have a knock-on effect on something more important, as far as the squad is concerned.

Arsenal fans feel Leandro Trossard contract decision means no new left-wing signing

Trossard has agreed a new contract at Arsenal which will grant him a significant pay rise, according to The Athletic.

However, while Trossard’s new contract would see an increase in his salary, it is believed to run until 2027 – the same as his current deal.

The report claims Arsenal and Trossard have been in discussions for some time over increasing his pay to match his role in the squad.

Gunners fans are not pleased with this development as they claimed that it suggests the club has given up on a left-wing upgrade.

“Proper stock-management is the hallmark of a good trader. Arsenal has been terrible at this for the longest,” one fan wrote on X.

“Trossard should have been sold last season, but emotions got the better of reason. You can’t be truly elite if you don’t know when to sell, especially for a self-sustaining club.”

Another fan wrote: “Who wants to buy him now with the increased wage except the club is not planning to sell again, which means no additional on LW.

“This club is not serious.”

The criticism kept coming, with one fan saying: “The same weakness on the left remains… Sad end to this transfer window…”

Another supporter wrote: “That signals the end of our incoming transfer business then. If we were going to buy a LW, Trossard would be the one to go.”

Another fan said: “When you look at Liverpool selling and upgrading players who play more than Trossard this deal seems unambitious.”

The latest on Gabriel Martinelli’s Arsenal future amid Leandro Trossard contract report

Gabriel Martinelli is unplayable on his day, but he has not been anywhere near his best for around two years now.

With Trossard reportedly set to sign a new contract, the implication would be that Martinelli is the left-wing player in line to be sold.

However, Sami Mokbel has recently claimed that this won’t be the case either.

The journalist said Arsenal seem willing to give Martinelli another year to see if he can get back to his best.

With that in mind, it looks as though Arsenal’s left-wing options will be Martinelli, Trossard, and Noni Madueke…
