Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi finally started to show signs of fatigue as two of Arsenal’s most-played players this season looked off the pace against Liverpool.

Arsenal maintained their six-point gap at the top of the Premier League following a rather frustrating goalless draw against Arne Slot’s team.

Fill in the blank: Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi looked ________________ against Liverpool…

Mikel Arteta’s team produced one of their most lethargic displays of the season, as Liverpool managed to stifle them throughout the clash.

But one thing which is becoming increasingly clear is that Andrea Berta needs to bring a new midfield player to the Emirates Stadium during the January window.

Rice has already suffered injury this season, and the Gunners simply cannot afford to lose him for an extended period of time.

Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi looked shattered during Arsenal’s 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Thursday.

Rice and Zubimendi have been outstanding for Arsenal this season and have both helped to unlock each other’s potential.

However, the pair just didn’t quite look at their brilliant best against the Reds, and it’s clear that Arteta needs rotational options.

Zubimendi has played more minutes for Arsenal than any other outfield player, with 2,207, meanwhile, Rice is third behind Jurrien Timber with 2,108 minutes played.

Rice often has a great influence on Arsenal’s matches, but he only managed 55 touches against Liverpool, with ten players having more.

Arsenal fans left N5 feeling rather underwhelmed with their team’s performance, but Rice will be particularly annoyed at his own display.

Arsenal should consider Ruben Neves move

One midfielder Arsenal should consider during the January window is Ruben Neves, who is set to be available for transfer.

Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Neves, and if it really is a possibility, the Gunners must take it with both hands.

Arteta has wanted Neves for years in North London, and aged 28, now could be the perfect time to sign him.

There has been speculation around the midfielder leaving Al-Hilal and returning to Europe.
