Arsenal are expected to announce the £63 million signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP in the coming days.
After weeks of intense negotiations, the Gunners reached a total agreement with the Portuguese club earlier this week regarding the structure of the payment.
The North London club will stump up £55 million for the Swede, with £8 million in performance-related add-ons also included in the deal.
Gyokeres will fly to London to complete his medical before joining Mikel Arteta’s squad in Singapore later this week.

Arsenal may regret signing Viktor Gyokeres after latest Alexander Isak update
While the Gunners focused on Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko this summer, Arteta’s dream target has always reportedly been Alexander Isak.
However, Arsenal felt a deal for Isak wasn’t plausible due to the excessive asking price Newcastle have placed on the 25-year-old.
That may now have changed, after Craig Hope of the Daily Mail revealed that Isak has informed the Magpies that he wants to explore a potential transfer this summer.
The prolific striker is open to a new adventure elsewhere, and his desire to potentially push for a St. James’ Park exit would undoubtedly make any possible suitors more likely to end up landing his services.
With Arsenal closing in on Gyokeres, they are likely not able to pursue Isak from both a financial and a squad space perspective.
Had the Gunners opted to hold out and not move for the Sporting star, they may have been in with a genuine chance of acquiring Isak.
Arteta and Andrea Berta may now be regretting their pursuit of Gyokeres.

Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak’s statistics compared
While Arteta and Berta may be questioning whether they made the right decision or not, it’s certainly up for debate as to whether splashing in excess of £100 million on Isak was the right move regardless.
The Newcastle talisman has a track record of injury issues, while this significant outlay would almost certainly have impacted Arsenal’s ability to address other issues in their squad.
The signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Noni Madueke were all necessary, and they may not have all been able to materialise if the Gunners chose to spend over £100 million on Isak.
| Statistical Comparison 2024/25 (League Only) | ||
| Stat | Gyokeres | Isak |
| Appearances | 33 | 34 |
| Goals | 39 | 23 |
| Assists | 7 | 6 |
| Shots per 90 | 4.08 | 3.1 |
| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.99 | 0.66 |
| Key Passes per 90 | 1.96 | 1.34 |
| Expected Assists per 90 | 0.22 | 0.12 |
As for a direct player comparison, Gyokeres’ numbers were actually considerably better than Isak’s last season.
That said, the former was playing in a much less challenging league, and it remains to be seen as to whether he can translate his form into the English top flight.
