Arsenal may be about to make a signing that actually makes Kai Havertz a worse player

Arsenal’s business over the 2025 summer transfer window might alert Kai Havertz in particular.

The German has found a place to call home at the Emirates following a difficult start to life at Arsenal

Since his resurgence during the 2023/24 season, Mikel Arteta hasn’t looked back from fielding Havertz as a striker, but things are surely about to change.

The possible signing of Viktor Gyokeres will impact Havertz, as the Swede will come into the squad as a first-choice striker, leaving the former Chelsea ace’s role up for debate.

It’s not, however, only Gyokeres’ arrival that could shake Havertz, as one player he knows very well is set to arrive in N5.

Kai Havertz’s record when playing with Noni Madueke

Noni Madueke will undergo a medical at Arsenal to complete his £52m transfer from Chelsea.

To say that the transfer has been one of controversy would be an understatement, as some Arsenal fans are not satisfied with Andrea Berta’s coup.

It’s unfair to judge the winger until he has the chance to prove himself as a Gunner, but it’s fair to say that Havertz’s back might be up.

The Germany international spent half a season with Madueke at Chelsea, and in that time, things didn’t go as well as hoped.

Havertz failed to score or assist in the 11 appearances that the duo made together, while Madueke found the net just once.

Chelsea sold Havertz in the summer after the winger’s January arrival, leaving a lot to be desired when combining, only to now be joined by the wide man at the Emirates.

Havertz is a different player now

Though the duo will link up at Arsenal, the most prominent part of their past partnership will not follow.

Arteta has transformed Havertz since he signed for Arsenal to the point where the 26-year-old is not the same player as he was at Chelsea.

There will be hope that the Arsenal manager has a similar impact on Madueke, who, at 23, has so much potential to fulfil.

The pair crossed paths at a particularly difficult time for Chelsea, who finished 12th in 2022/23, with the environment very different in N5.
