Tough fixtures in the Champions League don’t stop, with Arsenal gearing up to face Inter Milan at San Siro next.

A trip to Milan awaits Arsenal, who will arrive at San Siro as the team to beat in Europe.

The Gunners are top of the Champions League table with six wins from six, aiming to make it seven against Cristian Chivu’s in-form side.

Chivu rates Arsenal very highly and is expecting a tough battle when Mikel Arteta’s table-toppers visit however, the North Londoners will touch down at San Siro with flashbacks of the 2024 clash in their mind.

Arsenal struggled in attack when they faced Inter Milan in 2024

You’d have to rewind to November 2024 to revisit Arsenal’s last trip to San Siro, which frustratingly ended in a 1-0 defeat.

There’s a reason why the Arsenal squad might be feeling confident, yet apprehensive, about their upcoming visit, as their recent struggles in attack could prove to be a problem.

Unwanted memories from the 2024 clash will resurface, as Arsenal repeated an 18-year feat against Inter by failing miserably going forward.

That night, the Gunners fired as many as 20 shots on goal to no avail, going home empty-handed, without giving the away fans a goal to celebrate.

It was the first time since 2006 that as many as 20 shots had been recorded by Arsenal without a goal, something Arteta will be wary of on Tuesday night.

Arsenal just massively underperformed in attack against Nottingham Forest, so will understand that they need to improve promptly to avoid a re-run of their San Siro misfiring 13 months ago.

Inter clash has come at a bad time for Arsenal’s attack

Arsenal’s forwards are out of form in the Premier League, and won’t want their luck to carry over into Europe.

It must be said that the clash against a team as defensively astute as Inter has come at an awkward time, as Arteta’s front line and midfield have left a lot to be desired in recent weeks.

There might be a sense of having a taste of their own medicine, as Inter are right behind Arsenal in the goals conceded ranking in the Champions League, conceding four in six, the second-best record.

It’s uncertain how Arsenal’s attack will present themselves at San Siro, but what is for sure is that it’ll be incredibly difficult for either team to score, as two of the best defences in world football go head to head.
