Arsenal were made to work hard but managed to beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1.

Mikel Arteta’s side were dominant for most of the game, but right after the visitors scored, the momentum completely shifted.

Who was your Arsenal Man of the Match after 2-1 win against Brighton?

Brighton were all over Arsenal in the final moments of the game, and it took a heroic save from David Raya to keep hold of their lead.

Arsenal should be happy with the result, but there are some big question marks. Furthermore, their chances of making history are all but over now.

Arsenal’s dream of breaking Chelsea’s Premier League record is surely over now

Arsenal have maintained the best defence in the Premier League in the last two seasons.

The Gunners conceded fewer goals than any other side in the division, and they are likely to do the same this time around as well.

In their first 11 games of the season, Arsenal conceded just five goals in the Premier League. At that point, Arteta’s men were on track to beat Chelsea’s incredible defensive record.

The Blues let in just 15 goals in 38 games in the 2004/05 season, and many felt Arsenal would finally break that record.

However, in their last seven games, the Gunners have conceded six goals, taking their overall tally for the season to 11.

If Arsenal want to break Chelsea’s record, they will have to let in a maximum of four goals in their next 20 Premier League fixtures.

That is extremely unlikely.

Who is Arsenal’s best bargain signing in defence?

The big reason why Arsenal have been conceding more goals recently

It is very unlike Arsenal to be conceding six goals in their last seven games.

The Gunners are usually so good at the back. There have been games this season when the opponents have failed to even have a shot at goal.

The reason why that has changed in recent weeks is injuries to their key defenders, especially Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Brazilian has been a big miss in both boxes for the Gunners, and without him, they are just not as solid at the back.

Thankfully for Arsenal, Gabriel is back now, but it is still extremely unlikely that he will be able to help them break Chelsea’s record.
