Ben White’s return to the England squad has created a fresh debate ahead of the World Cup this summer.
The versatile Arsenal defender is back in the picture under Thomas Tuchel, and after his goal against Uruguay on Friday night, he will be pushing for a place in the squad.
That development could have major consequences for other defenders, and there are quite a few of them who are hoping to be involved in North America.
One of them is Trent Alexander-Arnold, and his potential absence could easily upset Jude Bellingham.

Ben White’s England return could cost Trent Alexander-Arnold his place
Ben White’s return has added another layer of competition at right-back, a position where England already have several options.
Although the Arsenal man was used in central defence against Uruguay, his ability to play on the flanks will mean Tuchel doesn’t need another right-back.
That, as we’ve seen in the England boss’ latest squad, is bad news for Alexander-Arnold, who doesn’t look to be in contention at the moment.
The Real Madrid star’s quality is unquestionable, but for whatever reason, Tuchel doesn’t seem to be a big fan of him.
White, on the other hand, offers a more balanced profile. He is excellent at both ends of the pitch and can play in multiple positions as well. That is perhaps why he has the edge.
For those reasons, we won’t be surprised at all if White makes the England World Cup squad ahead of Alexander-Arnold this summer.
Should Ben White be a starter for England at the World Cup?
Jude Bellingham will not be happy if Trent Alexander-Arnold misses the England squad
It is no secret that Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold share a close relationship, both on and off the pitch.
The two Real Madrid stars have often spoken highly of one another, and many feel their friendship is the reason why Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool and moved to Spain.
For that reason, we think Bellingham will not be happy if his best mate is snubbed by Tuchel when England go to the World Cup.

It will be interesting to see if that will cause any internal problems because Tuchel has had a few things to say about Bellingham that have created controversy too.
As for Arsenal star White, he should not care as long as he gets on the plane.
